Sorry M8 is a slow, observational documentary project made along Ireland’s old N8 road — once the main route between Dublin and Cork, now downgraded to the regional road R639 after the M8 motorway took the traffic away. As the road quietened, the towns, forecourts, and small businesses along it shifted into a different rhythm.
I photograph the landscape with patience: light falling across an empty stretch of tarmac, bushes along the soft shoulder, traces of forgotten past. These quiet scenes show how the road has changed and how the pace of life around it adjusted.
The project also includes conversations with people who live and work along the R639 — shopkeepers, pub owners, and residents who remember the N8 when it was busy and central. They share stories about how the road’s decline has shaped their days, their work, and their sense of place.
