For the past 14 years, a Photography Department of the Stivers School for the Arts in Dayton, Ohio has held a silent auction to raise money for their program.
This year’s auction is set for April 13, 2018. I've been asked if I could donate a piece of my work for their fundraiser. I'm gladly sending two prints taken at Clonmel racecourse some time ago.
I exposed my first ever roll of Kodak Tri-X 400 at the Iverk Show in Piltown, Co. Kilkenny on 26th August 2017. It took almost two months before I could see the results. I must say that I am really pleased.
I don't really want to be a part of film vs. digital discussion. I will continue shooting digital but every so often I will expose a roll of Tri-X or Portra when I feel like doing so.
Some of the reasons why I've decided to try shooting film.
- Nostalgia - I wanted to take photographs as a kid, but I could rarely afford buying and developing the film. Nowadays I can 'waste' money the way I want to :-)
- A need of slowing down and thinking more before pressing the shutter.
- Sometimes it is fun to do something without an instant gratification.
- Somehow it feels different. It helps me getting closer and more personal to the people I photograph.
Thank you to Dodho Magazine editors for featuring my street photography work.
